Job Description

Our Mission

Our mission is to solve the most important and fundamental challenges in AI and Robotics to enable future generations of intelligent machines that will help us all live better lives.

Join our cross-functional teams and develop the next generation of high performance and intelligent robotic systems. You will bring novel hardware products and processes to life, learn from world-renowned technologists, share your skills with others, and help build cool robots.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes. This is a hands-on position suited for someone who is confident in interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, and working independently on complex machining tasks. You’ll be working in a brand-new air-conditioned facility, operating new Haas machinery. We are not a production machine shop. The quantities are from one to a few pieces. If you're looking for a role that is challenging which allows and encourages your creative thinking and you love the overall art of toolmaking, then this is the job for you.

What you'll do

  • Set up, program, and operate 5-axis vertical mills and mill/turn CNC machines
  • Design and develop fixtures and workholding systems to manufacture complex 3D parts
  • Create part programs using G-code, conversational, and CAM software
  • Perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, and other precision tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair of institute prototyping equipment and materials inventory management
  • Part fabrication and post-processing
  • Daily hands-on prototyping, testing and debugging
  • Work independently from raw material to finished product

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience setting up, operating, and/or programming CNC machines (vertical, 5-axis, and mill/turn) to machine low quantity prototype parts
  • Strong understanding of G-code programming
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks and SolidCAM (or prior experience with comparable software and a willingness to learn through company-sponsored training).
  • Solid skills in using precision measurement and inspection equipment
  • Working knowledge of GD&T standards
  • A team-first attitude and a commitment to delivering outstanding results
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Mastery of 3D CAD systems (OnShape, Solidworks, or similar)

Bonus

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience solving complex hardware challenges
  • Experience with robots or similar complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Skilled with metal fabrication tools and processes (MIG, TIG, plasma, etc).
